英語圏でもっとも詳しい民謡索引（未刊行も含む）。伝承版の みが対象。English Folk Dance and Song Society のライブラリーである Vaughan Williams Memorial Library のサイトの一部をなす。Greig-Duncan Folksong Collection などの最近の民謡集にはこの分類番号（Roud number）も付いている。この索引はウェブ版のみで、印刷版（図書）は出ていない。

チャイルドの５巻本の全語句索引。PDF と Postscript がある（Postscript 版はプリントアウトしてからでないと使えないので、PDF のほうがお薦め）。全巻（約3500ページ）が１ファイルに収められているので、ダウンロード・保存してからでないと使いにくい。しばしば参照するには、アルファベットごとにファイルを分割したほうが使いやすいかもしれない。なお、出版予告まで出ていたが、中止されたので、このウェブ版のみしかない。

年代が限られているので1840年以降になってから知られるようになった歌は収録されていないが、当該の曲はどの文献に含まれているのかを示した非常に詳しい索引である。「初期アメリカ」と称しているが、かなり多くのイギリス起源の曲が含まれている。伝承曲も多い。曲名は "Texts" から検索する。冒頭旋律（Incipits）などからも検索ができるが、曲が主体であり、歌詞索引はない。旋律（音符の長さは無視）は数字で示されている（「むすんでひらいて」ならば、332/11//22/31）。
